Events at silo city buffalo ny7/14/2023 ![]() The bar Duende, with an indoor performance area and an outdoor stage with silo views, was named for the Spanish. I would definitely recommend the tour and checking this space out. There’s a stretch along the edge of the Buffalo River where empty grain silos loom like modernist sculptures and Americana jazz plays as the cocktails pour in a tavern that was once a flour company office. ![]() After the tour we had a few drinks at the bar that just opened on the premises - cool and welcoming place with a lot of reclaimed materials used in its construction. Also some great opportunities for pictures of the lakefront and the Old First Ward. Boom Days is sponsored by Rigidized Metals, Lyceum at Silo City, Flying Bison Brewing Co., The Big Easy in Buffalo, and Skylighters. Tour took about 2.5 hours but it didn't seem that long as there was so much to see and discuss. An interactive celebration of spring on the Silo City great lawn with Hawk Creek Wildlife Rehabilitation, Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper, WNY Book Arts Center, and more and - Fireworks to conclude the event. The tour itself was great - started on the ground to give an appreciation of the scope of the Silos and then proceeded up to the top of two different Silos and learned how the grain used to move through these structures and what the workers used to experience when they were in operation. Silo City is a historical industrial complex located on the Buffalo River. Larry provided a great account of the history of the silos and how the current owner is using the space as a cultural center for everyone to come, appreciate, and enjoy. ![]() We went on a vertical tour of Silo City with our docent Larry from Explore Buffalo this past weekend. Silo city is an incredible array of unused silos, the largest collection in the US, as you climb up and through these hulking industrial giants, one get a real. ![]()
